The Bower Byron Bay

Located on Bangalow Road, the Bower Byron Bay was opened in 2018 by Byron Beach Abodes on a leafy, tranquil setting.

The design was inspired by co-owner Taliah Lowry’s time in New York, specifically the Bowery neighbourhood of Manhattan, and was the result of a collaborative process to repurpose the former 1970s roadside motel.

The property comprises 28 sleek, art-focused guest rooms – spanning barns, cottages, hotel rooms and suites – as well as an award-winning circular swimming pool.

The Bower Byron Bay has become one of Australia’s hottest hotels, widely praised by fashion and lifestyle magazines including Vogue, Condé Nast and Gourmet Traveller.

In this feature, we show you the rooms and guest houses that are available to book at The Bower (there are so many beautiful options!). However, we have to say our favourite during our stay earlier this year was definitely The Bower Cottage (featured first)… take a look!

THE BOWER COTTAGE

A classic country home – The Cottage – sits elegantly and in complete privacy in the Bower’s lush landscape. It is the original 100-year old dwelling, yet any nod to tradition ends at the front door, which opens into sophisticated, five-bedroom, luxury accommodation.

From its five spacious bedrooms, three with ensuites, to the interior-exterior living and deck area set in lush tropical gardens, The Bower Cottage has been conceived with an effortless aesthetic.

On arrival our guests – extended families, friends and wedding parties – are enveloped in a sense of quiet indulgence through the soft, interior palette, its mix of hand-selected vintage and modern details, linen furnishings and the intimate interplay with nature.

THE BOWER HOUSE

With lush landscaping and casual, elegant furnishings The Bower House is designed for friends and families to share their holiday in comfort and relaxed luxury.

The open-plan interior spaces are modern, light-filled and inviting – from the galley kitchen to the expansive living and dining area with linen-draped couches and flat screen TV; the feeling is casual and calm.

A paved, sheltered terrace with daybed and barbeque area all contained within private tropical gardens encircles The Bower House. Upstairs the four bedrooms with king beds, TVs, and ensuite bathrooms offer retreat and privacy – a space to come home.

THE BOWER STUDIOS

Studios 17 and 18 are all Manhattan-Luxe-inspired and are positioned right in the heart of this sophisticated, boutique hotel, beside the stunning perfectly round, mineral swimming pool.  Gently curved white-washed walls hide  private entrances to lush green courtyards with built-in seating, inviting a touch of Mother Nature into the sultry, moody interiors of these beautiful, freestanding spaces. Dark timbers, limestone floors, high ceilings, bespoke windows and joinery and billowing Ralph Lauren French linen curtains combine beautifully with custom aged mirrors, hand-made ceramic lighting, and the beautiful patina of Porters paints in soft greys, whites and black.  Each has a 5-star 4 poster King bed, layers of softest linen bedding, a kitchenette, and the most romantic and luxurious of ensuites with stone baths, rain-showers, and luxury vanities.

THE BOWER BARN

People come to Byron Bay for the lifestyle; they book into the Bower Barn to experience what that really means. The ultimate couples and small family retreat, The Bower Barn is a private oasis, housed under a pitched roof with reclaimed wooden beams and restored cottage windows. The Barn doors slide open at each end for extended private living space.

The kitchenette provides everything necessary for guests to prepare plates of produce from the local Farmers Market and the bathroom with its full glass ceiling and egg bath allows our guests to look up at the stars.

The Bower Barn is a unique and private accommodation offering of The Bower but when requested can be configured as part of The Bower Cottage (featured first).
